COMMUNITY GROUPS AND CHARITY FUNDRAISING EVENT

£407.80p Raised for Beaumond House Cancer Hospice

The stage was set, everyone was there! All we needed were the villagers, friends, family and supporters to make the event at the Robin Hood Theatre on 21st August a success!!

Then they came!!!The room was buzzing from the minute the doors opened at 6.30pm.   There was a varied, entertaining and informative array of stalls for visitors to amble around and ask questions, or simply have a friendly chat with each group and get to know what goes on within Averham, Kelham and Staythorpe community groups, whilst sipping a refreshing glass of Pimms, and enjoying canapes excellently provided by the WI ladies.

The ASK Garden and Social Club Flower and Vegetable competitions were also a great success with a surprising amount of beautiful entries which made the judges jobs very difficult but it had to be done!

The winning entry for the Vegetable competition came from Brian Jobling for his prize Tomato’s and the winning Dahlia was grown by Lee Whetton.

Well done Brian and Lee!

Trophies, given in tribute to past members Ian Justice and Maureen Lawrence, were presented to Brian and Lee by our judges Maureen Justice and Ron Watkins.

The Best Vase of Flowers competition was judged by Sue Saddington our local County Councillor and Leader of the Nottinghamshire County Council, and the winner Maureen Justice was presented with a Southwell Garden Centre Gift Voucher by Sue Saddington.

A beautiful selection of flower arrangements were donated to the Garden Club by Leslie Saul and a silent auction was held with proceeds raised going in the pot for the charity along with cash donations from visitors for the Pimms and Canapes.

ASK About our local event group provided a very colourful Jar-Bola stall and the Garden Clubs small Tom-Bola and Bric-a-Brac stalls along with the silent auction raised £181.16p.

The entry fee, and additional Raffle ticket sales along with remaining sponsorship donations and monies raised from the stalls all went towards the final amount of £407.80p donated to Beaumond House Cancer Hospice.

Raffle prize winners were announced at the event and all winners have been presented with their prizes.  Congratulations to the winners and finally:

On behalf of the ASK Garden and Social Club THANK YOU to all Sponsors, Participants, and Visitors.
